Setting up a dual boot between Windows98(FAT32) and WindowsNT supposedly can't be done because WindowsNT doesn't recognise the FAT32 file system. The official Microsoft method for doing this is to set up a small FAT partition on the primary drive and using that to point to the Windows98 and WindowsNT partitions.

I still have my win xp cd, so I am just wondering if it's a bad idea to partition the 300gb drive after the fact. or is it a better idea to format first and then partition. So I can have xp on one and the other for data storage, or I could eventually put vista back on (if there is a compelling reason).

But I was able to use Linux to clone and setup the dual boot clone drive: The 30 Gig hard drive was originally setup by: Installating Windows XP Pro and using the Windows XP installation to create a 13 Gig first
